Georgian Wine Showcase at TopWine China 2024: Expanding Markets and Celebrating Heritage

From June 4th to 6th, the Georgian Wine Network, in collaboration with six premier Georgian wineries, showcased their products at the 12th TopWine China Beijing International Wine Exhibition. Held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, this event was spearheaded by the Georgian International Business Development Association. As China’s capital, Beijing is a vital hub in the northern Chinese market, serving as a political, economic, and cultural powerhouse. This makes the TopWine Beijing exhibition an ideal platform for enhancing the popularity and brand visibility of Georgian wines and spirits.

On June 4th, His Excellency Paata Kalandadze, the Ambassador of Georgia to China, visited the Georgian Wine Network booth. Mr. Mikheil Songulashvili, founder of the Georgian International Business Development Association, introduced each participating winery and highlighted their successes in the Chinese market under the Georgian Wine Network’s umbrella.

On June 5th, Mr. Wei Jun, founder of Tasting Annex—one of China’s most renowned wine and spirits education centers—conducted a master class on Georgian wines titled “Explore the Origin of Wine, Georgia”. Six representative Georgian wines, selected by the Georgian Wine Network and supported by the Georgian International Business Development Association, were presented to demonstrate the diversity of Georgian viticulture and its traditional Qvevri winemaking technology. Approximately 100 wine enthusiasts and distributors participated in the event.

The national pavilion-style presentation of Georgian wineries, organized by the Georgian International Business Development, provided an excellent opportunity for Georgian Wine Network and its partner wineries to highlight the variety of Georgian wines and spirits and their strong market presence in Northern China. As facilitators of Georgian wines and spirits, the Georgian International Business Development Association continues to explore and expand the potential of bilateral relations between Georgia and China in economic, trade, cultural, and other areas.

Caucasus Voyagers Made Its First Appearance on ITB China

Caucasus Voyagers made its first appearance on ITB China during 27th to 29th of May.

ITB China is a leading B2B-exclusive trade show focused on the Chinese travel market. Except for Georgia, there were other 12 overseas destination countires who made their first appearance on this exhibition, which attracted more than 1000 selected buyers from Chinese market to visit.

As a memeber of Georgian exhibitor group, Caucasus Voyagers distinguished itself with professional Chinese local staff and the best preparation for the exhibition. During the 3-day exhibition, we intorduced the beautiful Caucasus region and provided the most useful information to our potential partners, which gained our destination and our company widespread popularity.

Through the exhibition, we find out that it’s government delegation and MICE which attract a lot of attention in Chinese market, besides, wine and culinary tour in Georgia, pilgrimage tour in Georgia and Armenia are also frequented talking about.

After the exhibiton, we made ourselves more exposure and well-known in Chinese market, which will bring us better performance in the near future.

Milestone Achievement: Chinese Delegation Concludes Successful Investigation on Georgian Wine Industry and Its Cultural Heritage

From 14th-18th, May, the Chinese delegation under the guise of Georgian wine investigation, orchestrated by the Georgian International Business Development and fortified by the robust support of Georgian Wine National Agency, has concluded its initial trip with resounding success.

Taking the opportunity of the implementation of mutual free-visa policy between Georgia and China, Georgian International Business Development Association well organized the 14-people delegation to Georgia, consisting of key Georgian wine distributors and importers across China who have lengthy partnered with Georgian Wine Network under the support of Georgian International Business Development Association.

On the 14th, May, officially received by Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, the director of Georgian Wine National Agency, the delegation engaged in an enlightening journey through the heart of the Georgia’s illustrious winemaking heritage and its unique Qvevri wine-making technology, which has been in the UNESCO list in the year of 2013.

Facilitated by the expert guidance of Mr. Mikheili Songulashvili, founder of Georgian International Business Development Association, the delegation engaged in fruitful dialogues with the 3 partnered premier wineries in Georgia under the umbrella of Georgian Wine Network by the support of Georgian International Business Development Association. Through well-organized seminars, degustations and business gatherings co-operated by Georgian International Business Development Association and its partnered wineries, the delegation brought up mutual exchanges about Georgian wine business development in Chinese market, gained deeper knowledge of unparalleled richness and diversity of Georgian wines and spirits. Meanwhile, the representatives from the heart of Georgia’s esteemed winemaking industry fostered invaluable connections with key stakeholders across China’s burgeoning wine market.

This historic collaboration marks a significant milestone in the increasingly close relationship and partnership between Georgia and China, demonstrating the confidence and determination from both Georgian business and official side in taping potential of import and export business development between Georgia and China, which at the same time will undoubtfully pave the way for enhanced Georgia-China cooperation and mutual understanding and exchanges in the realm of economic, trade, culture, viticulture and beyond.

GIBDA’s Inaugural Presence at the Canton Fair

The Canton Fair, officially known as the China Import and Export Fair, is a prestigious biannual event held in Guangzhou, renowned as one of the world’s most significant trade fairs. Since its inception in 1957, it has become a cornerstone for international trade, attracting thousands of exhibitors and buyers globally. This year, from April 15 to May 5, the 135th Canton Fair took place at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, marking a historic milestone for the Georgian International Business Development Association (GIBDA) as we participated for the first time with our member company, Rooms and Residences

A Glimpse into the Canton Fair

The Canton Fair is divided into three phases, each dedicated to different product categories, facilitating navigation through the extensive exhibition space for buyers and sellers. With over 25,000 exhibitors and around 200,000 buyers attending each session, the Canton Fair is indispensable for businesses aiming to establish or expand their presence in the Chinese market and beyond.
