
From 12th-14th, November, 2024, 23 Georgian wine companies took participation in ProWine in Shanghai New International Expo Center, China, covering an area of 108 square meters. Out of 5 prestigious wine companies: Dugladze Wine Company, JSC-Kotekhi Winery of Gurjaani, Wine Guards LLC, Bekauri Family Vineyards and Ilango LLC are supported by Georgian International Business Development Association (GIBDA), presenting a diverse range of Georgian wines and spirits renowned for traditional methods and unique endemic grape varieties.
As the leading trade fair for the wine and spirits industry in mainland China, ProWine Shanghai 2024 brought together 650 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions, with over 80% of international participants, attracting 20,860 trade visitors across importers, distributors, wine buyers from hotel, catering and other related industries, which serves as a significant business platform for GIBDA and its members to introduce Georgian wines to the vibrant Chinese market and beyond, contributing to the global recognition of Georgian wine as a symbol of quality and heritage.
On 12th, November, Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, director of Georgian National Wine Agency, paid a visit to Georgian national pavilion, Mr. Mikheili Songulashvili, the founder of GIBDA, briefly introduced the members of wine companies and their fruitful achievements in Chinese market in the past years,which together account for 35% of Georgia’s wine exports to China. These wineries are recognized as major contributors to the expansion of Georgia’s export potential in the Chinese market.
During the visit, Mr.Mikheili Songulashvili exchanged ideas and thoughts with Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, chairman of national wine agency and Mrs.Anna Godabrelidze, wine expert, about strengthening wine industry ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration to further elevate the visibility and reach of Georgian wines in Chinese market and other key Asian markets, as well as the market share.
The presence of GIBDA and its members at the exhibition highlights the growing interest in Georgian wines and their potential to capture a larger share of the Chinese market, which underscores GIBDA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing business and trade opportunities within Chinese markets, further fostering long-term Georgia-China bilateral friendly relationship as the bridge of wine.
